Who Am I

M.J. Weller was born at a very young age in Torrance, CA. His family bounced around California, with the most notable childhood memories tied to the several years they spent residing in the foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. His family moved to North Idaho when he was 13, exposing him to a new climate, culture, and relationship with melancholy. After an inadvertent meandering through academia, he procured his B.S. in Kinesiology from CSU, Sacramento, before going on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA. He now resides in North County, San Diego, with his lovely wife and cat (two different entities). A full-time physical therapist, he enjoys rehabilitating and building relationships with the elderly population at the skilled nursing facility where he works.

In his spare time, he frequents the beach with his wife, interacting with sea creatures in the tidepools, boogie boarding, skimboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling. An avid reader, his Kindle is one of his most prized possessions and is usually not far from reach. When he's not at the beach and/or reading, he's playing with his cat, lifting weights at the gym, or playing PS5.

Mr. Weller's interest in writing began in the latter years of high school, mostly taking the form of private journals and lengthy text messages to his friends. Running track and field, skateboarding, and creating bizarre home videos with his brothers occupied a significant portion of his time growing up. For years, he dreamed of writing a book, but it always seemed like a gargantuan endeavor. He created a men's blog, sharpening his writing skills and growing his love for the craft. Fast forward to the present day, and he has silenced his mental haters, spurned the noggin naysayers, and become heck-bent on accomplishing this lifetime goal.

"We're all going to die someday; I might as well write a book."
