Post #1 - It Starts With a Spark

Well, I'm finally doing it. For a long time, I've dreamed of writing a novel, but figured I couldn't actually do something so epic. From a rational standpoint, it's good that I've sat on this idea for a while. I have needed to grow as a person, become more well-read, and figure out what kind of book I'd even be interested in writing. This is an ongoing process, of course, but I feel I'm ready to start shaping my debut novel.

At this point, the biggest challenge is silencing my own self-doubt. Writing an entire novel is no simple task (as I'm realizing more and more), and it's an endeavor I do not take lightly. I don't want to write one just to say I did. I want to create something of which I can be proud. To do this, I'm going to need heaps of support--something I struggle to believe I'm worthy of.

The purpose of this website and blog is to gather encouragement, sure, but it's also to connect with readers and share my process. This is a one-step-at-a-time ordeal, and I want to be able to share with writers and non-writers alike the ups and downs of this journey. My ultimate goal is to have a debut novel published. As of this post, I've begun outlining my story, discovering its pieces, and seeing how they might fit together.
